Solidaridad con los camaradas arrestados en Zimbawe! // In solidarity with the comrades arrested in Zimbabwe!

Desde la Fracción Trotskista – Cuarta Internacional nos pronunciamos por la inmediata e incondicional liberación de todos los militantes de la Internacional Socialist Organisation (ISO) de Zimbabwe, organización hermana del SWP británica, acusados de querer ‘subvertir un gobierno constitucionalmente elegido’ y de ‘organizar e implementar la destitución del gobierno constitucional de Zimbabwe igual como se hizo en Egipto’ por el gobierno de Robert Mugabe.

El arresto de los 52 activistas y militantes se produjo el sábado 19, durante una charla pública sobre Egipto y Tunisia organizada por la ISO en Harare inspirada en el proceso revolucionario en el mundo árabe. Fuerzas de seguridad irrumpieron con violencia en la charla  e incautaron cámaras y computadoras. Entre los detenidos hay estudiantes, activistas sindicales, trabajadores y militantes de derechos humanos y el ex diputado por el Movimiento por el Cambio Democrático, Munyaradzi Gwisai.

Si son encontrados culpables de traición, los compañeros de la ISO podrían ser  sentenciados a la pena de muerte. A su vez condenamos que a los detenidos, entre los cuales hay heridos y pacientes con HIV, se les ha negado atención médica y acceso a medicamentos, como así también el derecho a ser visitados por los abogados defensores.

Exigimos la inmediata e incondicional libertad para los militantes de la ISO-IST y demás detenidos.

ENGLISH VERSION 

The Trotskyist Fraction- Fourth International condemns the arrest of the militants and activists at the meeting of the International Socialist Organisation (ISO), Zimbabwe, a sister organisation of the SWP (Great Britain). We call for the immediate and unconditional release of all those arrested and charged with treason and “subverting a constitutionally elected government” and planning to “organise, strategise and implement the removal of the constitutional government of Zimbabwe… the Egyptian way”, in a Harare court yesterday by the Mugabe government.

The arrest of 52 militants and activist took place on Saturday 19^th Februay, following a raid on a meeting to discuss the implications of the Egyptian Revolution for Zimbabwe inspired by the revolutionary events in the Middle East and North Africa that was organised by the International Socialist Organisation. Police seized DVDs, video equipment and a laptop, which they said had been used by the organisers to show videos of protests in North Africa. Those arrested include human rights, trade union and student activists together with the former Movement for Democratic Change MP, Munyaradzi Gwisai.

Should they be found guilty of treason they face very serious charges, up to the death penalty. At the same time we condemn the fact that all the detainees have been denied access to medical treatment, lawyers and proper meals. Some of them are seriously injured and some are HIV positive and in need of their life-saving medicine.

We call for the immediate and unconditional release of all those arrested!
